is an organization which supports the Department of Art and creates interest
and involvement in the visual arts in the community. Yearly events sponsored
by the Society and the Department include special receptions for members
before exhibitions in Hammond Hall Gallery, a Creole Dinner, and a Gala Buffet
and Art Auction. The society also organizes trips to museums and art galleries
in Birmingham and Atlanta, and presents art workshops for members.
The Visual Arts Society has raised over $100,000 since its inception and has been
able to sponsor artist visits and workshops, to provide student scholarships, and
to substantially help the Department purchase equipment.
Membership of the Society is open to all. Please contact the Department Secretary,

educational activities on campus and in the community. It also sponsors fun events
like a Homecoming banner, The Collagraph Challege,

The Potters’ Guild
The Jacksonville State University Potters’ Guild was formed in 1998 to supplement and help build the ceramics program at JSU.
The Guild consisting primarily of ceramics students conducts several sales each year of their ceramic works.
They also sell clay, tools and JSU Potters’ Guild T-Shirts. Funds raised by the Guild have been used to purchase equipment
for the Ceramics studio, including a potter’s wheel, an air compressor, and kiln shelves. Funds have also enabled students to
attend regional and national clay conferences, and to help sponsor workshops.
